"Don't change the MOUNTAIN, let the MOUNTAIN change YOU." Kamandag Mountaineers is a non-stock and non-profit organization of freelance underground amateur mountaineers who love to preserve our nature. We don't have officers, but we do have organizers. We're born last October 10, 2007 in Mt. Sembrano, Malaya, Pililia, Rizal. We're just three back then. Thots, Albert and Randy. It's good that we are growing and continue to share our experiences and passion to others.
We celebrated our 1st year Anniversary in Mt. Pulag via the Killer Trail (Akiki 2 Ambangeg) last Oct. 31 - Nov. 2, 2008. Despite that most of us are first timers, first major climb and first anniversary. The 29 participants namely Thots, Avhet, Fred, Uly, Ken, Eman, Randy, Benjie, Dimas, Peng, Thelma, BG, Froi, Lanie, Mayor, Erwin, Enteng, Melda, Leizel, James, Enan, Frances, Igey, Mico, Iel, Oteep, Jay Louie, Ryan and Mhean. They succeeded to summit Mt. Pulag via Akiki 2 Ambangeg trail with all their unity, cooperation and camaraderie all throughout the climb. Thank you for all your support.
In our third year. Finally! Kamandag Mountaineers scaled the highest mountain in the Philippines, Mt. Apo via Kapatagan to Kidapawan trail with Kamandag Mountaineers (Thots, Avhet, Ken, Randy, Amleht, BG (also AMG member); Kawangis Mountaineers (Froi and Mheann also a Kamandag member); Kaladkad Outdoors (Dhang and Reyn); Lakdang Mountaineers (Eric, Dennis, Sangkay, Art, Jay-R and Marlon); Team Outdoor Pilipinas (Benj and Kat); Freelancers (Bro. Morya and Ermin) and our guides and porter from MOSACA (Rodel, Deo and George) and porter King.
Why Kamandag? Kamandag Mountaineers was baptized in Mt. Manalmon, San Miguel, Bulacan last November 17, 2007. That was a wild idea. When we climb Mt. Manalmon together with other mountaineers (AMDATEX Mountaineering Group and Kawangis Mountaineers).During the social we need to introduce ourselves and tell from what mountaineering group are we in. So we (Thots and Albert together with Alfie) decided to call us Kamandag Mountaineers. Due to the reason that Manalmon was the place where Mulawin was shoot and Kamandag is the new show of Richard Gutierrez back then. It's funny, but it gives significant to our group. Because our KAMANDAG as mountaineer strikes our comrades and friends to try our passion and get into it. Sharing our passion as a responsible mountaineer is one of our goal. Molding not just a mountaineer, but a responsible citizen and a well rounded person as well.
How to join? Everyone who are RESPONSIBLE MOUNTAINEERS and those who aspire to be a Mountaineer are welcome to join. You just need to join one climb with us. Whether you like it or not you're already part of Kamandag Mountaineers.
